hey sweetie

Living with a Type 2 diabetic can be a challenge at times, and driving 8 hours to Arizona in a car with two Type 2’s is a disaster.  My solution:  Granola Gourmet Bars and Brownies from Granola Gourmet.  Yes, that’s right, sweet treats.  The bars and brownies taste awesome; they have a low glycemic index and are made by a diabetic.  Granola Gourmet’s founder Jeff Cohen created a unique and much needed product that will appeal to everyone.

The granola visionary used the glycemic index as his guide and was able to find ingredients that could make a tasty snack with a low glycemic impact.  His family experimented with the ingredients and finally created granola bars. Refined sugar was eliminated and replaced with raw blue agave and honey.  Blue agave is metabolized by the body slowly, making it a low glycemic product.  You will also find the bars loaded with raw oats, flax and sunflower seeds and nuts, plus they contain no sodium, dairy or wheat!  Thus a tasty and healthy snack was produced.  Granola Gourmet bars come in 4 flavors: Brownie, Chocolate Espresso, Spiced Orange Cranberry and Very Berry.  I’m still taste testing to find my favorite!  You can order online or purchase the bars at Whole Foods and Lassens in our valley, or online at http://www.granolagourmet.com/ .   You may have seen Jeff recently on the TV show Shark Tank with his product.

NEWS FLASH:  Granola Gourmet energy bars are now being carried in Vons, Pavillions, and Safeway in California!  Starting this week get bars free.  If you buy  at Vons, Pavillions, Safeway or Whole Foods buy 4 (4-packs) and get 2 Free, or 2 (10 packs) and get 1 Free as a thank you from Granola Gourmet for being a loyal customer.   *See the instructions below.

Another awesome product for diabetics that I found is from Diabetes Designs.  If you want to buy a thoughtful gift for anyone that has diabetes, or if you are tired of those little black vinyl clutches that you get from your doctor, then check out the bags at  diabetesdesigns.com .  Our favorite:  The Couture Cases.  couture cases1All of their cases come beautifully wrapped in a sheer, organza bag perfect for gift giving.  Use code FREESHIP for free shipping on any order.  Cases are available in prints for men, women and youth.

To sweeten your purchase, a portion of every sale from both of these companies is donated to organizations that promote funding and research for diabetes.  How sweet is that!

I love the hunt. I am inspired by things for moments at a time and can switch my thoughts in seconds. Creativity motivates me. Finding new places to shop, eat, hang out, visit or check out in Santa Clarita for this ezine, makes me happy. My in-laws live nearby and can stop by anytime of the day making it difficult for me to work at the computer in my comfy Hawaiian robe, but sometimes I live on the wild side and do it anyway. I appreciate quality friends, quality relationships and my family. I am inspired by the contributing writers for Scene In SCV and think that they all have something unique to say that will add to the quality of your day, and that makes me happy too.  I have a college degree from ASU in Journalism, I am an award winning cook (twice), I am the step-mother of 2 boys that are in college (both went through the Hart District school system) and I am the wife to my husband Ed, whom I met on an Internet dating site in 2001. I was born in Tucson, Arizona. I love and live in Newhall, CA
