synchronicity or coincidence?

Coincidences? No way!  I believe everything happens for a reason, and things unfold just as they are supposed to.  This is called ‘synchronicity,’ which means that things line up exactly as they should, at the perfect time.

Here is one of my favorite synchronicity stories.

It was a Thursday morning in 1971.  I was in high school in Millburn, N.J., and my journalism class was taking a field trip to Columbia University in NYC for a conference.  The whole class was standing under the clock at the information booth at Port Authority.  I said to my friend Janet, ”This is the exact spot where my friend Judith and I meet when I go to visit her on Long Island.”    Judith was my bestfriend from camp from when we were 12 and 13 years old, many years before high school.

At that moment, and I swear to you, Judith comes walking up out of the crowd in the middle of Port Authority.  Remember it is a Thursday morning and most  kids are in school and not in the middle of  New York City.  But there, before my eyes, is Judith, walking right towards me.

There’s more.

Judith says, “I’m here to meet a bunch of our friends from camp.”

Coincidence? I don’t think so. It was one of the best days of my life, and obviously I was supposed to be a part of it.  I spent the day riding the subway back and forth between seeing my old friends and the conference at Columbia University, though quite honestly, I don’t remember seeing much of the synchronicity
conference.    Judith and I have remained friends all these years, and through Facebook I just reconnected with some of my camp buddies, one of which was with us that day.

My life is full of synchronicity, and I am sure yours is, too.

One of my favorite things to do is to trace a chain of events back to the beginning.  For example, think about your bestfriend or your spouse.  How did you meet?  Everyone has a story.  Is this a random coincidence? I think not.

By paying attention to the synchronicities in your life, you might begin to notice that each day is full of surprises that lead you to the next step in your life.  One surprise leads to another. Every moment is perfect and I believe, every moment is perfectly planned. Synchronistically speaking, of course.

I love this story. Think about us… meeting so long ago, connecting so strongly but so briefly. And now, we’re HERE!
