uh oh! what do i do if my toddler has moved into my bed?
Q – What do you do with your sex life if your toddler has moved into your bed? I’m finding new meaning to rug burn if you know what I mean… – A. B.
A – Good morning! Is it a good morning for you Miss A? Did you get a good night’s sleep with your toddler in bed wriggling about with you? Lots of action in bed with your hubby? I think not.
I have a question for you – How does a toddler ‘move into’ your bed?
As a mum of two young kids I understand nightmares and feeling sick and wanting to hang out with you ‘just because’ but I don’t understand how they could move into your bed. My son who is now almost 6 went through a terrible stage of coming into our room and waking me up every night at 1.30am as he was having bad dreams. I let him lay in bed with us for a while and then I took him straight back to his bed. How long has your toddler been in your bed? If a short time stop it now. If a long time stop it now. It’s sweet when you get to snuggle up with them but let’s get honest for a minute – you are in bed for one of two things: sleep or a bit of action.
Rug burn is also painful.
What I would do is figure out why he or she is in your bed. Sometimes you’ll find that they just miss you. When my daughter went through this I made a big deal out of her own bedroom. I got her a new bedspread, put away some toys and brought out some older ones and played in her room with her during the day. I made sure to follow exactly the same routine with her every night and read books, sing a song and give her a big hug before leaving her room at night. If I woke up to see her (or my son) asleep next to me I would simply put her back into bed. It’s annoying and frustrating having to get out of bed all the time but it was worth it for the sake of my sex life .
If you allow them to stay in your bed get ready for sex in the shower, sex in the closet, sex in the car, sex in the kitchen etc. As exciting as it sounds wouldn’t you prefer to have your bed back? Suztoys does not carry anything for rug burn but I do carry other products that can help make up for time taken away from yourself and your husband if the toddler remains in your bed!
In a nutshell, what would Suzie do ? Kick toddler out! (of course not literally)
