For those of you who don’t know, you are missing the best deal for dining in the SCV from KHTS 1220, our local SCV radio stationCheck this out.   All you do is go to the 1220 radio station office or order these certificates online.  Over 100 vendors offer certificates to their establishments for half off.  For example, purchase a certificate to All Corked Up for $7.50 and get a certificate for $15!  Purchase one to Wolf Creek for $10 and get a certificate for $20. Courtyard by Marriott offers a $140 one for $70. Massage Envy offers one for $24.50 worth $49.  Other restaurants that participate are Alamo, Bella Cucina, Caruso’s, Cavi, Don Cucu’s, Kelly’s, Mojito, New Moon, Oggi’s and Salt Creek Grill. Go to shopkhts.com to order and tell them Chef Dawn sent you!

25-Score is the other way to save money and try new restaurants in the SCV.  By investing $20 for one membership, $30 for 2, and $10 for each additional person, you save between 5% and 10% or more at local restaurants.  Carusos, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Genghis Khan, Inca Bistro, Jasmine Thai BBQ, Kisho, Lo Toscna, Moon Wok, Mulligans, I-Hop, Thelma’s Morning Cafe, Thai Dishes, Tandoori Grill, Roast House and Saugus Cafe all take the 25-Score card.  If there is a restaurant that you want to accept the card, call new 25-score owner Ed Bernstein at 661-257-2673 x151.  As a side note, 25-Score offers an amazing fundraiser for schools and other non-profits.  If you sell the cards, the non-profit makes 40% of the price of the card!!!  That is between $5 - $12 per membership sold.  Contact Ed if you are interested in this as well.

Follow up!  Thank you to all my readers who have gone to Barcelona since my review was posted.  Make sure that you mention that you read about the restaurant on SceneOnSCV.com by food writer Chef Dawn.  The more restaurants that hear about my reviews, the more reviews I’ll be able to write.  Also, if you want me to review a particular restaurant, please send me an email to dawn@chefdawn.com .

Dawn’smost successful culinary adventure is Dawn’s Dinners. Chef Dawn prepares fresh dinners for families in the Santa Clarita Valley. Chef Dawn also offers fresh frozen meals, complete with reheating instructions, ready to take home and defrost. Not only do families get healthy home-style cooked meals, but the meals are usually $25 for four people and $35 for six! Also, starting in February, Dawn and friend/chef Rena Slabich will be giving cooking classes again. Surf over to Chef Dawn’s website www.chefdawn.com where you can see what is on the menu for dinner tonight and the schedule for cooking classes. When Chef Dawn is not cooking, which is rare, she enjoys spending time and camping with her amazing husband, four daughters, Truffles the dog and Puff and Custard, the dragons.
