This week I watched the Olympics…. a lot of Olympics! I live vicariously through the athletes – and if you know me you’d know I have about as much athletic ability as a slug. A few years back I went to a picnic where they had potato sack races. Before the race began, I was talkin’ smack, rallying up the competition all morning. When the race began, there we were lined up at the chalk mark in the dirt. When the fog horn sounded for all to take off like jumping fiends, there I stood. My knees were bending I was making the hopping sounds and then it hit me – I cannot jump, let alone jump and move forward. So every four years, I watch the Olympics. I imagine myself in those sleek USA uniforms and I am as graceful as a gazelle! In the Winter I skate flawlessly for the gold and walk around the house making swishing sounds and move my arms side to side to get the milk from the fridge.
