move your chi
A few years ago, the book WHO MOVED MY CHEESE by Spencer Johnson was released, and has since become the #1 bestselling book on change. It’s wonderfully inspiring and really does help you to change your way of thinking, and break old patterns. If you haven’t read it, I do recommend it. It’s a short book with a powerful punch that even teenagers will enjoy.
This week’s article is called MOVE YOUR CHI, which I hope, will also inspire change.
Chi means Energy. If your chi is blocked, your energy is blocked. If the chi isn’t moving in your house, well, maybe you are feeling a little stuck, too. In honor of the Vernal Spring Equinox, I wanted to suggest a few tips to help get the chi moving for you.
One of the rites of Spring is to do a deep spring cleaning in your home. After being sequestered all winter, you may have the feeling that you, too, are covered in moth balls. The great thing about doing a spring cleaning in your closet, office, kitchen, garage, is that the more you release, the more you are able to bring into your life. As your house gets uncluttered, so will you!

Chi can get stuck in the corners of your home. Picture a rat in a maze that keeps getting stuck in the corner without the notion of how to back out. Well, the chi in your home can get stuck, too. It’s more than just dust, it’s energy, filling up the corners of your home. For the very sensitive, there may be a feeling of not being able to breathe, or…..that you are a rat in a maze.
To break up the chi in the corners is actually rather simple. You can walk around each room and clap your hands running the claps up and down the wall. It is interesting to hear the difference in timbre as the clapping breaks up the energy to move freely once again. You can also use a bell, or some chimes to do the trick. Once the chi is cleared, consider hanging a mobile or a plant or a light so that the chi can continue to move all year long. Chimes are especially nice, even inside, and a fountain can be lovely.
Every single thing in your house has a story. And, the story is energetic. It can be a happy story, or a sad story, but a story just the same. As we live with all these stories in our home, we can sometimes feel mixed up, and unable to focus, or we want to start something new, but don’t know how. When this happens, go to the junk drawer in your house. Everyone has one. Or the drawer or cabinet that doesn’t shut because it is too full. Clean it out, or dump it out. You probably don’t even know (or use) what’s in there. This can start the ball rolling.
Isn’t it true that once you start clearing out one area of your house, an epidemic sets in and you are forced to clear out all rooms? That’s because once the chi starts to move, it can’t stop. Picture trying to stop a big ball of energy the size of the boulder in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Fuhgetaboutit. Once the energy starts to flow, just hold onto your hats and ride it out. You’ll be so glad you did!
