begin again – intuition

Judith Cassis 150x150Last week we talked about how trust factors into taking those first steps into unfamiliar territory when setting your feet on a new path in life.  Trusting others; trusting life, can only be achieved when you learn to trust yourself.  How do you do that?

Self-trust springs forth from a place within -your center; the same place your intuition resides.  Intuition is that inner knowing life has equiped us with to help direct our steps in life.  Your level of  intuition depends on several factors.  Some people are born highly intuitive, and others must cultivate this skill.  Children are quite intuitive and when this is fostered, they grow up learning how to trust themselves.  Unfortunately, many children are taught to supress their intuition and replace it with logic.   Because of this, they learn to ignore inner promptings and this important life skill remains underdeveloped.

If you’d like to strengthen your intuition,  here’s an exercise that will help:

Find a quiet place, indoors or out.  This is a place where you won’t be interrupted.  Close your eyes.  Focus on your heart center, or your solar plexus. Familiarize yourself with this place within, and breathe.  Repeat this as often as you like.

When you have a decision to make, focus on your center and ask yourself which choice best serves the highest good of all concerned.  Your inner knowing will come forward.  Trust and act according to what you “hear”.  Over time you’ll learn that you can trust yourself to make the best choices, and the more you trust, the easier it gets.
