There are seven colors of the rainbow that correlate to the seven chakras or energy centers in our body. For a special treat, I thought I would offer an overview of the colors of the rainbow and the seven chakras they are associated with. Here’s a bonus! What about making a chakra fruit salad for mind, body, and spirit refreshment using the pictures below.
RED is the color associated with the first chakra known as the Root or Base Chakra. This chakra, or energy center, is located at the base of your spine. It is the chakra that allows us to express anger, make money, be grounded. If the root chakra is blocked due to holding in rage from childhood, life may be more difficult. Money problems could ensue, relationships can suffer, and healthy attitudes may be shadowed by negativity. When the root chakra is clear, one tends to be happy, optimistic, feeling alive and vital.
ORANGE is the color associated with the second chakra known as the Sacral Chakra. This chakra is 
located about 2 inches below the belly button. It is the chakra that rules sexuality and creativity. When this chakra is balanced, we feel alive and happy, easy to laugh, and feel compassion for those around us. Intuition and creativity are heightened, and we can share physically our expressions of love. When the Sacral Chakra is out of whack, we feel blocked, sluggish, unambitious, and may have health issues surrounding the kidneys, bladder, spleen, liver, and sexual organs. Fertility may be a challenge as well.
Yellow is the color associated with the third chakra, or Life Force Chakra, located in the area of the Solar Plexus just under the breast bone at the top of the stomach. It carries our true energetic essence which allows us to exert our personal stamp on our existence, and gives us the oomph we need to achieve our goals. When we are feeling strong and healthy, our ambitions become more attainable. When we feel low, everything seems much harder. If the energies from the first two chakras are not aligned, our life force can become affected. We will judge ourselves more harshly, feel compelled to judge others more quickly, and become susceptible to illness.
GREEN is the color associated with the Heart Chakra. Love, love, love! When we feel love, our chest expands. We walk taller, we hug, we surround ourselves with plants. Opening the heart chakra brings us unlimited happiness, joy, peace, serenity, prosperity, and compassion.
BLUE is the color associated with the fifth Chakra or the Throat Chakra. It seems fitting that this is the communication center. The throat, mouth, teeth, and thyroid are all influenced by this chakra. Ruled by the planet mercury, the throat chakra also takes center stage for speaking, writing, and creative expression through the arts, wisdom, and loyalty. All of us know that when we hold back what we really want to say, we may be plagued by sore throats, or head colds. Walking around with a “lump in our throat,” is a very real manifestation of not utilizing the throat chakra to its greatest capacity.
INDIGO is the color associated with the Sixth Chakra located in the center of the forehead in your Mind’s Eye. It is a beautiful mix of blue and purple often seen in California Sunsets. It influences clairvoyance, psychic ability, connections with The Other Side, meditation, intuition, imagination. It helps us to focus and feel on an intuitive level. It connects the head to the heart. Ruling the eyes, vision, sinuses, and brain, the Third Eye Chakra encompasses what is known as the Sixth Sense. Basically, it is where you can really see dead people. When the Third Eye is out of balance, you may suffer from headaches, congestion, depression, and fatigue.
PURPLE. The majesty of the rainbow. Purple is the color associated with the Seventh Chakra or the Crown Chakra. It is the closest connection to Spirit, to the Divine, to God. The Crown Chakra opens us up to the magic of the universe, void of ego, where we can trust our highest guidance to be on the perfect path that is ours.
