jr high promotion scheduled
8th Grade promotion is back on, thanks to a handful of determined students and Moms. The Hart School District canceled its junior high school promotion ceremonies for 8th graders district wide on April 4, 2010, but that didn’t stop a group of determined students in figuring out a way to have the promotion without the District’s money. “I was inspired by an article in The Signal about a fourteen year old kid from Sierra Vista Junior High School who was planning a private eighth-grade promotion for his class because of the budget cut . I decided to take a stand and fight for the right of promotion” explained Macy Gibson, an 8th grade honor student at Arroyo Valley Junior High. Macy organized a small group of students to help plan their promotion. They created a website and facebook page and their grassroots effort began.
With the additional help of a couple of Mom’s, the 8th grade promotion class of 2010 will be celebrating their promotion at the Hyatt Grand Ballroom on June 4th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
Fundraising with 25Score has helped the students raise the money to cover the cost of the Ballroom and Leslie Powell with It’s Still Up In The Air! has donated all the balloon decorations.
