finding the silver lining

They say that “Every cloud has a silver lining,” but when you’ve lost your job, broken up with your boyfriend, or lost a loved one, it is often difficult to find it.  The truth is, we go through specific challenges in our lives to learn about ourselves, our loved ones, and the right path for us to take. Finding the silver lining might not be an easy task, but making it a treasure hunt can help make it easier.

The first thing to do while looking for the silver lining is to TRUST that everything is perfect.  We are always exactly where we need to be. Even when things seem to be at their worst, we must trust that we are going through a process to learn the lessons that are important for our own personal growth.

Losing a job can be traumatic when the rug gets pulled out from under your financial stability.  If you were working the daily grind just to get a paycheck and not finding personal fulfillment, then losing your job was probably a blessing in disguise.  It might be just the thing to force you to start your own business or try something new.  Don’t be surprised if after you get back on your feet you admit that losing the job was probably the best thing that every happened to you.

Suffering from a break-up from any relationship is difficult.  Whether it was a short term or long term affair, the sense of loss is palatable.  It may seem as if the wound will never heal, but rest assured it does.  The title of Greg Behrendt’s book “It’s Called a Break-Up Because It’s Broken,” is a clear indication that all was not as perfect as it seemed.  In fact, unless a relationship is mutual in the give and take arena, you might be better off without it.  Consider it a gift so you can move forward in your life.

Finding the silver lining after losing a loved one or battling an illness often feels insurmountable. You may feel that the loss and pain is too deep and too severe.  Guilt, depression, and loneliness are just some of the emotions you may experience.  This is where TRUST comes in. You must trust that everything is in Divine Order and you are exactly where you need to be.  Inevitably there is something meant for you to experience that could not have been done had your life continued the way it was.  Everything happens for a reason. Ultimately, the silver lining will reveal itself, especially if you continue to look for it.
