insure your identity
Hello Friends!
Let me begin by saying how honored I am to be a featured blogger on SceneinSCV.com. But more importantly, I’m thrilled you’ve decided to visit my page! So, many preemptive thanks to you! In return, I promise to do my best to provide useful information that can help you keep your life in order. With that said, I might as well begin with letting you in on a little secret, which I’ve found to surprise friends and clients alike, time and again. Drum roll, please…
Did you know that nearly 10 million people are victims of identity theft each year?
Or that of those who are victims of identity theft, a substantial portion don’t realize that their identity has been stolen for more than four years?
Moreover, did you know that it can be incredibly costly to repair your credit if your identity has been stolen?
Ok, enough of the scare tactics, I promise that’s not my M.O. Nor am I an expert in preventing identity theft. But, I can tell you that you can mitigate your risk of costly expenses relating to restoring your identity for less money per year than you probably spend on coffee. Or less than you’d spend on a single mani/pedi.
Indeed, many companies are now offering identity theft insurance as part of your homeowners insurance. Don’t get me wrong, this type of coverage won’t prevent anyone from stealing your identity, and it’s not going to do the work of contacting the appropriate agencies, credit cards, banks, etc, for you, but what it can do is ease the financial burden of having to pay to have your identity restored.
Even better? Some companies offer this additional service for as little as $25/year. Yep, for just over $2 bucks a month you can protect yourself (in some cases up to $25K or more) for fees associated with restoring your good name.
I’ll be the first to admit, that it’s not likely to cost you this much to mend the identity theft glitches, but should you find yourself having to dispute items in court (thus needing an attorney), this valuable coverage can be a lifesaver. Unfortunately not all companies offer these policies, so if you need to know if it is available to you, go ahead and shoot me an email at nnicholson@tcinsurance.com
After all, we’re talking about getting your life in order, here, right? What easier way to do so than preventing a giant headache, for pennies a day?
