got stress? get moving!
Exercise is not only good for weight management; avoiding diseases like heart disease, diabetes II, osteoporosis, and some cancers; but, it can invigorate your body to get rid of stress and depression that can harm your mind and body. Physical activity has proven to be more effective for stress management than some medications.
Here are some of the advantages of using exercise to help get rid of stress:
1. Your heart is strengthened by physical activity which lowers your risk of heart conditions due to stress including stroke hypertension, lowering bad cholesterol, and heart failure. Doing cardio helps keep the heart pumping normally and improves circulation. Some examples of cardio are aerobics, dancing, jogging or even walking. Anything that brings your heart rate up is a cardio exercise so there are lots of options to keep it enjoyable.
2. Exercise can help you release pent up anger and frustration, or other negative feelings you may be experiencing. You will release endorphins which are your “feel good” hormones. The law of attraction seems to be such a buzz word lately and it states what you feel and think about you bring more of into your life. So the more you feel good…. the more you will feel good.
3. A good night’s sleep! How many of us lay awake at night thinking about all the things that stress us out in our lives? After working out, especially a cardio workout, you will sleep so much better. Not getting enough sleep only causes more stress but, makes us cranky.
4. Emotional release and relaxation of tense muscles. A workout can provide an enhanced sense of well being, reduction of anxiety, an improved self image and self confidence.
