are your memories fading?
Recently I started looking through boxes of old photos and realized regretfully that my photos are starting to fade, especially the Polaroid’s. This got me thinking about my 30th birthday video that we had stored up in our attic (and who knows how many others) oh so long ago. Once I got them down, I pulled out my videos poured myself a glass of iced tea, sat myself down in the den and called my husband on the intercom to come set up the VCR for me so I could cuddle up with my memories. My husband intercomed me back saying that we haven’t had a VCR player in the house for about 4 years now. The world moved onto DVD and my memories were stuck on video cassettes. The moral of the story is that if you can remember video taping your little cutie pies riding...
wisdom of our elders
Halloween, All Saints Day, Día de los Muertos followed closely by “the big” holidays here in America : Thanksgiving and the Winter Holidays. The economy worldwide is shifting and values are resurfacing that were, only a few years ago, all but obsolete. These things are sending me down paths of traditional teaching and ancient ways of living. Ways which honor our Ancestors and value the wisdom of our Elders. According to recent statistics, our children are and will continue to be less affluent than their parents. Unemployment is higher than it has been since the Great Depression. Folks are generally way more stressed and considerably more depressed. The numbers of us on antidepressant medication is truly alarming. The remedies are so simple and so...

aah summer!
June. Father’s Day. The Beginning of Summer. Summer Solstice (the longest Day of the Year). The height of “Masculine” (in Chinese medicine, Yang) Energy. What does that mean? Great Question. Masculine energy is associated with being Forceful and Direct. It is the problem solving, TAKE ACTION energy of the Universe. The traditional strength of the Oak, might of the arm… oh yes…. and all of the rising sensual, sexual energy of spring is in full force now. Clothes come off and “serious” play ensues! Children conceived in the summer are born in the spring of the following year and that’s a good time for babies to be born. And while this doesn’t mean that you have to strip off all your clothes and get yourself (or someone...

Just because I think Newhall Land’s Awesome Town campaign is a little disturbing (helloooo…..Newhall, Canyon Country, Stevenson Ranch, & Saugus are awesome too!) doesn’t mean that I don’t think that the FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL IN VALENCIA IS AWESOME! metaphysically speaking
Christina Belardinelli will be joining the Scene In SCV writers in June. Christina’s background is multi faceted; she is a gifted spiritual guide and has studied many forms of healing and metaphysics. When I asked Christina to join Scene In SCV as a writer, I had no idea what exactly she would write on. But one thing I was sure of, is that whatever she wrote on would be very interesting. I began this life in what was at the time, Leopoville, Belgian Congo. (Currently it is Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.) I started early to study metaphysics in the form of Astrology at age 8 and had my first existential crisis at age 12. I also began to work with Tarot at about that age, though I don’t think that the two are related. I continued...
