Hello!   Crime in the City is down.  Use of our libraries is up.  Building permits have increased.  Sales tax revenue is up.  I believe these early indicators mean that 2012 will be a good year for Santa Clarita.  At City Hall, we are, as always, busy helping to make Santa Clarita an amazing place to live, work and play.   As I drive through our City, I am very pleased with the high quality of beautification projects we’ve been able to complete over the last few years.  Most recently, we finished a four mile center median project on Soledad and another on Bouquet Canyon in the Saugus area.  Right now, we are working on another beautification project at one of our City gateways—Lyons Avenue at Interstate 5.  These projects go a long way...

Fall has arrived with all of the great City events you have come to know over the years.  Your City works hard to plan and implement events and programs that are family-friendly, informative and a great contributor to the amazing high quality of life we all enjoy.   On Saturday, September 17, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the City will host its award-winning River Rally Cleanup & Environmental Expo.  The event is expected to draw large numbers of volunteers interested in helping remove trash and debris from the Santa Clara River.  The City will provide volunteers with snacks, water, and a small gift in appreciation for their service to the community.  This year, we will be cleaning near the Wiley Canyon area at theVia Princessa bridge.  River Rally is...

Our 37-member Citizen Library Advisory Committee is working on the first-ever Santa Clarita Public Library strategic plan.  As part of this important work effort, they are asking residents to complete a short survey about local library services.  If you could take a few moments and complete this survey, we would be most appreciative.  The survey (deadline is March 11)  will assist the committee in creating the new strategic plan and most importantly, will provide our residents with an opportunity to share their values for library services in Santa Clarita.  To complete the survey, please check out the link on our library website at: www.santaclaritalibrary.com.  Speaking of libraries, we are well underway with the construction of our new 30,000 square foot...
